Thrive and Survive success

Older people are great survivors! This was more than apparent at the one day annual conference held earlier this month at the Warwick Hilton.

Guest speakers on the day were Warwickshire County Council’s Director of Adult Health and Community Services, Graeme Betts, William Brown from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue and Mike Slater from Warwickshire Police.

The event was attended by over 150 older people from all parts of Warwickshire. After the formal speakers delegates joined in workshops such as line dancing and singing as examples of ways to promote health and wellbeing.

A vibrant question and answer session followed each of the speakers and many people had the opportunity to ask questions and express their views on the issues that affect older people.

Brenda Hardy, Chair of the Warwickshire Older People’s Forum, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the turn out for this year’s event. The day was extremely informative and entertaining for all those who attended.”

Kim Bolton, of Warwickshire County Council’s Customer First Team, said: “We are always happy to be involved with this annual event. It is tribute to hard work of the Warwickshire Older People’s Forums representatives that enables such an valuable event to take place.”
