Exceptional school garden wins national praise
A Nuneaton school has come under the national spotlight for its exceptional `Centenary Gardens’ thanks to the work of Warwickshire County Council.
The county council’s new ‘School Grounds for the Future’ initiative has won a BALI National Landscape Award (British Association of Landscape Industries) in recognition of the scheme at ‘Centenary Gardens’ Nursery Hill Primary School, Nuneaton.
The annual awards are to celebrate the landscape industry’s commitment to maintaining and improving standards within the landscape sector.
They pay tribute to BALI members across the UK who have demonstrated exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill in the execution of a wide variety of landscape schemes.
The criteria applied by the judging panel include: quality of workmanship, materials used, complexity of scheme and interpretation of the design.
The prestigious awards ceremony was held in London on Friday, November 3rd where Amelia Cliffe, Landscape Architect from Warwickshire County Council’s Regeneration Projects accompanied Cleanaway Landscapes to receive the award, which was presented by Lord Sebastian Coe.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio holder for the Environment, said: “The school and the team should be very proud. This award was one of just 24 presented for the whole of the UK and for Warwickshire County Council to win such an award is a credit to the work of the landscape architect and the partnership with Cleanaway Landscapes.”
