Council staff leave work clothes at home to raise £1,300

A touch of glitz and glamour came to Warwick’s Shire Hall on Friday 17 November when fun-loving staff from Warwickshire County Council put on their posh frocks – and helped raise over £1,300 for charity!

FUNd-raising activities for this year’s BBC Children in Need took place across the council, including a fancy dress day and quiz at the council’s Customer Contact Centre, a dress down day for staff at the council’s Children, Young People & Families and Environment & Economy directorates, a cake sale by the pensions team, and a book sale and tombola at Shire Hall.

In north Warwickshire, Resources Management staff based at Nuneaton’s Warwick House, from the council’s Adult, Health & Community Services directorate, went back to their school days and donned school uniforms to raise money.

In all, kind-hearted Warwickshire County Council staff raised over £1,300 for the cause.

BBC Children in Need aims to positively change the lives and prospects of children and young people living in the UK who have suffered hardships, difficulties or disadvantages of some kind.

Each year, the charity provides support to thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under, including those who have experienced homelessness, neglect, abuse or poverty, and those who’ve encountered serious illnesses, disabilities, psychological disorders or addictions.
