Final call for shoebox appeal!

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is reminding residents that the final collection for the shoebox appeal in Nuneaton is on Wednesday 29 November!

So far residents have donated over 700 boxes in support this years Operation Christmas Child. This means that we are well on the way to beating last years, collection which was 750.

Since 1990, Operation Christmas Child has brought the joy of Christmas to more than 47 million boys and girls. Last year Samaritan’s Purse in the UK sent out over 1.18 million gifts to children across Eastern Europe and Africa. This annual project enables caring individuals, families, schools, churches, businesses, and other organisations to fill ordinary shoeboxes with small toys, school supplies, sweets, and other gifts for children around the world.

Shoe Box appeal co-ordinator, Maureen Maddison said:
“We are completely overwhelmed at the response of Nuneaton’s residents this year. We are well on the way to beating last years target and shoeboxes are still arriving at the station every day.  We would like to thank residents from across Warwickshire for their continued support with this project, but would like to remind them that the final deadline for collection from Nuneaton fire station is on Wednesday 29 November.”
Gifts should be new or very nearly new, below are a few ideas of what to pack:
