Warwickshire County Council funding reassurance for Heritage Centre

Warwickshire County Council is reassuring the Heritage Centre that funding for its gate and fencing project will not be withdrawn while it negotiates planning permission.

This follows a request from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to resubmit the planning application for the works at the Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre in Avenue Road, Nuneaton.

The county council’s Nuneaton and Bedworth Area Committee recently awarded £5,000, via the Community Development Fund, to the Heritage Centre to install a fence and gate as a result of recent vandal attacks.

However, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council refused the centre planning permission for the new fence, prompting fears from the Heritage Centre that it would lose the county council funding.

Cllr June Tandy, the County Councillor for the area, said: “I have ascertained from the Chair of the Area Committee, Cllr Barry Longden, that the funding will be ongoing until the centre obtains planning permission.

“I want the committee and the users of the Heritage Centre to feel reassured that the £5,000 funding from Warwickshire County Council for this project is safe.”
