The Older People’s Partnership Board for Warwickshire held a successful meeting last week with number of presentations giving a valuable input into the group’s number one priority which is to agree an Older People’s Strategy for the county.

Chair of the board, Graeme Betts, Director of Adult, Health and Community Services for Warwickshire County Council introduced presentations on
· the Joint Commissioning Strategy
· Trading Standards and their services for Older People,
· Age Discrimination Monitoring
· the VCS (Voluntary/Community Sector) Network.

The board consists of representatives from Warwickshire County Council, all the borough and district councils, health services, voluntary/community services, the Pensions Agency and the Older People’s Representatives for Warwickshire.

Graeme said
“The board is making some huge inroads into the priorities that older people in Warwickshire have when looking for ways to improve their lives and enable independent living. The key priority is to establish an Older People’s Strategy that all the partners sign up to and then make sure that the agreed actions take place.”

Brenda Hardy, Chair of the Warwickshire Older People’s Forum, said
“We are very reassured to see so many of the partner agencies involved with the
planning for the challenges that face Older People’s services in the future. The
sharing of information has always been key to making sure that the best possible care and support is offered to older people based on their individual needs.”
