Stores urged to spare a thought for local children this Christmas

Some of the most vulnerable children in the Warwick and Leamington area could benefit from an exciting delivery this Christmas if retailers come forward to pledge their support.

Warwick Children’s Assessment Team has already received a consignment of children’s toys and clothes from the Adams children’s store, which promises to transform Christmas for children who might not otherwise receive presents.

The Assessment Team, which is part of Warwickshire County Council’s Children in Need Service, helps vulnerable children and families in the local community. They hope that other retailers will donate gifts, tokens or money to help make this Christmas a happier one.

Clare Cooling of the Children’s Assessment Team said: ”Christmas is fast approaching and for many children it is a happy occasion and they receive plenty of presents. For others this is not the case. We urge all retailers and individuals to spare a thought for local children and families in need.”

Caroline Hicks of Adams Children’s Store in Leamington Spa said: “We are delighted to be involved with this worthwhile scheme and we hope that our donation will help to brighten Christmas for local children.”

Those wishing to donate gifts should ensure that goods are new and unused (due to health and safety regulations the team is unable to pass on any used items). Gifts should be taken to 56-58 Holly Walk, Leamington Spa and the deadline for donations is 19th Dec 2006.
