Have your say!

Warwickshire County Councils Community Protection Directorate is asking residents to have their say on how it serves the local community, as part of the consultation for it’s Integrated Risk Management Plan.

Since April 2003 every Fire and Rescue Authority has been required to produce a local IRMP that helps the authority to reduce risk to the people of Warwickshire.

In 2004/06 the IRMP helped the Community Protection Directorate achieve a number of key targets and goals. These include:

· Reduced the number of fires in Warwickshire by 27% - from the 2003/04 base line
· Reduced the number of people injured in fire by 26% - from the 2003/04 base line
· Reduced the number of accidental dwelling fires by 7% - from the 2003/04 base line
· Installed 26,001 smoke alarms in homes throughout Warwickshire
· Reduced the overall volume of crime by 2,000 through closer working relationships with safer neighbourhood schemes     · Worked with a range of projects with young people tackling anti-social behaviour

Targeted community safety activity has continued during 2005/06 with 2453 home fire safety checks being completed. It is estimated that around 23122 people received safety advice during the year through the activity the Service undertakes. Next year we want to beat that amount, but we can only do it with your help!

The IRMP for 2007/10 is now ready for consultation and we would welcome your views on what you think should be the key priorities of the service.

Director of Community Protection and County Fire Officer, William Brown said:
“I would like to congratulate residents across Warwickshire for helping us to achieve our targets for 2005/06 and reducing the number of fires by 27% (from the 2003/04 base line). It is an achievement to be proud of. However, we will not rest on our laurels, which is why we are urging residents to look through the plan and then give us some feedback on what they feel our key priorities should be for the next three years.”

The deadline for consultation is on Friday 9 February 2007. So don’t delay – have your say and log onto http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/irmp
