County Links buses to serve Coleshill Parkway
The multi-million pound new development at Coleshill Parkway Railway Station in North Warwickshire is to be served by four new County Links Warwickshire County Council buses from the New Year.
Warwickshire County Council is introducing the four new County Links hourly bus services on Tuesday 2nd January 2007.
The network of services is designed to complement the new Coleshill Parkway Rail Station, which is expected to open in February.
The four services are:-
717 Nuneaton - Chapel End - Arley - Coleshill Parkway - Coleshill - Birmingham International
757 Sutton Coldfield - Curdworth - Water Orton - Coleshill Parkway - Coleshill - Birmingham International
767 Tamworth - Kingsbury - Coleshill Parkway - Coleshill - Birmingham International
777 Atherstone - Baddesley Ensor - Hurley - Kingsbury - Coleshill Parkway - Coleshill - Birmingham International
The four services combine to offer a standard 15-minute frequency between Coleshill Parkway, Coleshill and Birmingham International. Two trains an hour from Coleshill Parkway will operate into Birmingham New Street with two trains an hour operating to Nuneaton and Leicester.
When the station opens, buses will stop at a new bus interchange adjacent to the rail station. Buses will use bus stops in Station Road, Coleshill near the junction with Gorsey Lane until the new facility is open.
This new network will be operated for the County Council by a partnership of bus operators, Arriva Midlands (Service 767), Johnsons Excelbus (Service 757) and Stagecoach (Services 717 & 777) using low floor buses purchased by the County Council. The vehicles will be route branded and will be liveried in the strikingly distinctive County Links green and yellow colours.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment said: “We are delighted to announce the introduction of this exciting network of bus services centred on the new Coleshill Parkway rail station.
“The buses will be an integral part of our strategy for Coleshill Parkway to allow seamless transfer between various forms of travel. We are all looking forward with keen anticipation to the station opening in a couple of months time.”
In order for the public to be aware of the new network, arrangements have been made for relevant timetable leaflets to be delivered with appropriate free newspapers in the areas served by the bus services.
Details also appear on the public transport pages on the Warwickshire County Council website http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/publictransport
