Partners sign charter for Avon Valley School

Key partners involved in the rebuilding of The Avon Valley School have signed up to a special charter.

The Partnering Charter is just one of the latest developments which demonstrates the commitment of the team who are rebuilding the school in Rugby. The partners include Avon Valley School, Warwickshire County Council, Miller Construction, Ridge Property Consultants, BBLB Architects, Hyder Consulting and PWP Building Services.

Don O’Neill, Headteacher of The Avon Valley School, said: ”We are hugely impressed by the progress which has been made and it’s all down to the teamwork, commitment and cooperation by all concerned.”

Steve Smith, Head of Property at Warwickshire County Council, added: “The partnership charter has established a spirit of cooperation which will ensure a high quality learning facility of which the whole community can be proud.”

Miller Construction is one of the main construction partners for the scheme, which involves the rebuilding and redeveloping of the Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College. The School was destroyed by fire in June 2004 and Miller led the construction of the new school in March 2006.

Steve Swain of Miller Construction said: “We know that partnering solves problems, saves time and money and enables construction projects to run smoothly.”

The new Avon Valley School is due to be completed in September 2007 and will cater for students aged 11-16 years as a specialist college for the performing arts curriculum. The new facilities, which have been shaped by stakeholders, parents, students, governors and staff, will include a theatre, and other specialised accommodation.
