New early morning bus services
Residents who called for new early morning bus services to Stratford from the Shipston, Alcester and Studley areas are getting an early Christmas present.
Warwickshire County Council has announced that following representations from people attending a Stratford bus users surgery held earlier in the year, it has negotiated some additional early morning journeys into the town on two bus services.
The bus operator Stagecoach has agreed to provide a journey on Service 50 from Shipston departing Pettiphers Garage at 0707 and arriving in Stratford Wood Street at 0735.
First Midland Red who provide the evening journeys between Alcester and Stratford have been persuaded to provide a journey on Service 26 from Studley departing Station Road at 0700, Alcester opposite the Police Station at 0716, arriving in Stratford Wood Street at 0740.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This is a good example of local people influencing improvements to public transport provision in their area.
“It’s really good news for those people without a car who need to get to work early in the morning. I hope lots of people will use these buses because it might persuade the operators to put on more early morning journeys on other routes”.
