Stratford community projects to benefit from £33k council funding

Ten separate projects in Stratford district are set to benefit from more than £33,000 worth of funding from Warwickshire County Council’s Community Development Fund.

The funding was approved by the Stratford-on-Avon Area Committee. The projects include family counselling in Stratford-upon-Avon, a scheme that will provide a credit union outreach worker in Alcester and a number of improvement projects at local village halls.

Councillor George Atkinson, Chair of Stratford-on-Avon Area Committee, said: “The Community Development Fund aims to help communities, particularly in more deprived parts of the county, address issues of local concern.

“Competition for funding from the Community Development Fund is always high, but the Stratford-on-Avon Area Committee is pleased to approve financial support for these ten worthy projects in Stratford district.”

The ten projects to benefit in Stratford district are:

Project: Luddington Village Hall Organisation: Luddington Village Hall Committee
Funding: £1,000

Luddington Village Hall Committee applied for funding to renovate the kitchen and other main areas at Luddington Village Hall.

Project: Family Counselling Organisation: Relate South Warwickshire Ltd.
Funding: £5,000

This project will provide a new Family Counselling Service that will create lasting relational and communication improvements for individuals and families.

Project: Alcester Opportunities Community Banking Project
Organisation: Stratford upon Avon Credit Union Funding: £5,000

Stratford upon Avon Credit Union applied for funding to employ a part-time outreach worker to work in Alcester and to train local volunteers to ensure the project is sustainable in the future.

Project: Replacement gas heaters for Village Hall
Organisation: Ufton Village Hall Management Committee Funding: £2,300

This project will provide safe and environmentally efficient replacement gas heaters at the Village Hall in Ufton.

Project: Disabled access ramp Organisation: Snitterfield Nursery School
Funding: £4,000

Snitterfield Nursery School applied for funding to provide a disabled access ramp at the nursery to enable children with disabilities to be able to fully access all of the nursery areas.

Project: Welford Hall Improvement
Organisation: Welford and Weston on Avon Memorial Hall Committee Funding: £5,000

This project will replace the original 1920s flooring at the Village Hall, which requires remedial work to the foundations.

Project: Village Hall Energy Efficiency Project
Organisation: Fenny Compton Village Hall Committee Funding: £4,336

Fenny Compton Village Hall Committee applied for funding to improve energy efficiency at the Village Hall by replacing old sash windows with new uPVC windows as well as insulate the exterior walls and area behind radiators.

Project: Holywell / Ejector Seat Organisation: Air Training Corps (2028) Southam Squadron
Funding: £294

This project will restore an ejector seat for squadron training and purchase equipment to help cadets undertake voluntary work to the grounds at the Holywell in Southam.

Project: Long Itchington Pre-School outdoor play area
Organisation: Long Itchington Pre-School Funding: £3465

Long Itchington Pre-School applied for funding to build a new outdoor play area for the pre-school children.

Project: Giving access to the equipment and making available to all
Organisation: Blackwell Youth Club, Village Hall Management Committee and hub@blackwell
Funding: £3,280

This project will help to make IT equipment at Blackwell Village Hall user-friendly to all, along with provision of a hearing loop.
