Shaping the future of care for older people
To ensure the best possible care is provided to older people in Warwickshire a series of workshops are being held for organisations to discuss the future of `Day Care’.
The number of older people in Warwickshire is growing and the way people wish to have their needs met is changing, and in response to this Warwickshire County Council is reviewing Day Care services for older people.
The council’s Adult Health and Community Services (AH&CS) directorate has looked at both what is currently provided directly by the council, and those services which are provided on behalf of AH&CS under a contractual arrangement, including those services specifically meeting the needs of Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.
The county council now wishes to talk to current and potential service providers, to gather opinions about the way services are provided now and how things could be done differently in future.
Several workshops are being held in February for providers of services for older people throughout Warwickshire to attend in Nuneaton, Rugby and Warwick.
Invited are service providers who:
· currently have a contractual arrangement with AH&CS for day care-type provision;
· are providing services for Older People independently of AH&CS; and
· organisations who would be interested in providing some kind of Day Time Opportunities for Older People in the future.
The aim of the workshops is to generate some lively discussion around what should be included in the term ‘Day Care’, how this kind of support would be best provided in each area and how this could be achieved.
To book places organisations need to contact Emily Tuff on 01926 731099. Places are first-come, first-served (25 in Warwick on February 20th, 25 in Nuneaton on February 20th, and 14 in Rugby on February 19th).
