Dyspraxia Interest Group launches programme in Warwick
Parents, carers, teachers and others who may be affected by dyspraxia are invited to find out more about a new support programme at a special meeting on Tuesday 30 January in Warwick.
The Dyspraxia Interest Group, which is coordinated by Warwickshire County Council’s Learning and Behaviour Support Service and South Warwickshire Primary Care Trust’s Physiotherapy Service, will launch the second phase of its COMP Programme (Coordination Organisation Motor Programme) at Newburgh Primary School, Warwick, at 4.15pm on Tuesday 30 January.
The programme offers structured daily support to develop coordination, organisation and motor skills for pupils with dyspraxia. In schools, children with dyspraxia may have difficulty with maths, writing and physical activity. They may also find it hard to concentrate and remember instructions.
Warwickshire County Council’s Learning and Behaviour Support Service and South Warwickshire Primary Care Trust’s Physiotherapy Service have successfully trialled the COMP programme, which is now being delivered in 40 schools in central and southern Warwickshire. At the meeting there will be a presentation on the programme followed by a demonstration by learners at Newburgh Primary School.
The Dyspraxia Interest Group coordinator can be contacted on 01926 461901 or 01926 461904.
