Queens Road Enhancement Scheme planned
Warwickshire County Council, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Advantage West Midlands are proposing to carry out repaving works to Queens Road, Nuneaton, as part of the Town Centre Enhancement Programme.
Subject to funding, the works will improve the section of Queens Road, between Roanne Ringway and Stratford Street. The footways and pedestrian priority zone will be repaved with clay pavers, laid in a pattern to reflect the rope making heritage of this part of the town. Improved street lighting, seating, planting and street furniture will also be provided.
The public, local shops and businesses and relevant stakeholders will be consulted on the proposals. Plans and sketches showing the scheme will be displayed at the Town Hall, Library and Ropewalk Shopping Centre in Nuneaton from 22 January 2007 for two weeks.
A display will also be staffed in the market on Wednesday 31st January where anyone may discuss the proposals with officers from the borough and county councils. The proposals may also be viewed on the borough council’s website at http://www.nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk.
If anyone has any comments regarding these proposals, please do not hesitate to contact the Projects Team at the Town Hall by 9th February 2007.
Councillor Dennis Harvey, Leader of the Council said: “I am delighted with the further proposals for Nuneaton town centre. The council is committed to working with its partners to ensure our town centres remain pleasant and safe places for all of our residents and visitors.”
