Practice makes perfect for Rugby’s young musicians
Young musicians from Warwickshire’s County Music Service will be improving their skills whilst raising money for children with cancer.
More than 100 pupils from the Rugby area will be taking their music making to a different level as they take part in Practice-a-thon, a national fundraising initiative for children’s charity CLIC Sargent.
Each student will be sponsored to practice for at least 20 minutes a day over the course of two weeks.
Eddie Jones, Deputy Area Manager for Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service in the east, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Practice-a-thon. Our young people really want to do something for children who have been taken ill with cancer or leukaemia – and what better way than practising to develop their musical skills at the same time?”
Around 10 children are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia every day, and money raised from the Practice-a-thon will go to fund services which will help them and their families.
