Launch of new road county safety guide
Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Unit is to launch an updated version of its Road Safety Guide entitled “Safer Driving in Warwickshire 2007” at Sutton Park Renault dealership on 30th January 2007.
The booklet is part of Warwickshire County Council’s drive to keep residents safe on the roads.
A total of 12,000 copies will be available for local motorists, predominantly those who have completed Safety Awareness Workshops to re-enforce what they have learned on the half-day courses. These courses are offered to motorists as an alternative to accepting a fixed penalty notice of a £60 fine and three penalty points.
In addition, as the guide is sponsored by Renault, Sutton Park customers will find a copy of the guide in the glovebox of their new or used car from the Athena Drive showroom, or when they bring their car in for a service. Copies of the guide are also available to visitors to Sutton Park, or from Warwickshire County Council.
Brian Pierce, manager of the speed awareness workshops at the County Council, said: “The guide contains information relevant to people driving in Warwickshire ranging from motoring laws on child seat regulations and drink-driving to useful advice on staying safe on the county’s roads.
“We’re delighted that Renault is sponsoring the course booklet and helping us to spread important road safety information. Feedback from drivers who take part in the workshops tells us that they’ve found the course and booklets particularly useful as a refresher for improving their driving skills.
“We’re also pleased that Sutton Park is passing on the information to its customers as well, as the guides contain useful information for all motorists.”
Wayne Budge, General Manager at Sutton Park, Warwick said: “Safety is a top priority at Renault. As well as offering a range that has eight cars with a maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, Renault supports road safety through our Safety Matters campaign across Europe.
“It’s great that we can also do something at a local level and recognise that safety is something for everyone. Making these guides available to our customers is another way we can help them stay safe.”
