Chip pan amnesty comes to Nuneaton!

Chuck out your old style chip pans and get the opportunity to win a brand new deep fat fryer!

That’s the message coming from Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service this week as they get set to launch a chip pan amnesty that could literally save your life!

The amnesty will take place between 12 –16 February at ASDA on Newtown road in Nuneaton.
The competition is available to anyone living in Nuneaton and Bedworth area and all you have to do is come along with your old chip pan (not deep fat fryers) and you will be given a free raffle ticket, which will be entered into a prize draw.

Once entered, you will have the opportunity to win either a brand new deep fat fryer, which have kindly been donated by the Co-op in Nuneaton or a free bag of oven chips, which have been donated by ASDA in Nuneaton.

Community Safety Liaison Officer, Niky Nind said:
"The aim of the amnesty is to reduce the amount of chip pan fires by getting rid of them from homes in Nuneaton and Bedworth. Chip pans are very dangerous and are surprisingly still the cause of many kitchen fires across Warwickshire. The entry to the prize draw is free so we are asking as many people to come along as they can to help us put a stop to chip pan related fires.”

Dramatic chip pan fire demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day between 10am and 4pm for shoppers to see how easy it is for a fire to get out of control.
