Chips are down but baguettes are up at Trinity
Chips may be down but baguettes are up at The Trinity Catholic Technology College in Leamington, thanks to the voice of school pupils.
Trinity now has its very own baguette bar after school council members campaigned for the new made-to-order food station. Sales of chips, which are only served once a week, have reduced rapidly and the new baguette bar offering a selection of fresh and healthy fillings is proving a great success with pupils.
Lindsay Higgins of Warwickshire County Council’s catering arm said: “The new baguette bar proves that we listen to all of our customers and do our utmost to give them what they want providing it meets the nutritional standards.”
Warwickshire’s County Caterers are working very closely with schools as part of their school meals campaign and the baguette bar is one of the latest initiatives to encourage young people to eat healthy, fresh food. The bar is already selling more than 100 baguettes a day and the idea is so successful that it could be rolled out to other schools in the county.
