Engineering supremo to tour Warwickshire
Warwickshire County Council is this week showcasing some of its excellent work in engineering to the industry’s top figure.
Quentin Leiper, the President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, is coming to Warwickshire this Friday.
He will meet with staff members from Warwickshire County Council in the morning at Shire Hall in Warwick, and following lunch will tour two major sites, Barford Bypass and Coleshill Parkway, where works are nearing completion.
Traffic is this week to be diverted onto the £10.38m Barford Bypass almost four months ahead of the scheduled opening date.
And work also continues on the £9m Coleshill Parkway, which is expected to open later this year, offering a new railway station among many other features to North Warwickshire.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “There are many examples of how Warwickshire County Council is working extremely well with our contractors in delivering some excellent schemes in Warwickshire.
“We look forward to welcoming Quentin Leiper, and hearing his views on our various projects.”
Mr Leiper is Carillion’s director for engineering and the environment, and was elected to the role of President of the ICE in November of last year.
He said: “"I am delighted to visit Warwickshire and discuss the interesting projects that are taking place there and view first hand the collaborative working between Carillion and Warwickshire County Council."
