Woodlands School Coleshill Crowned Consumer Challenge Quiz Winners

A team of special needs children from Woodlands School in Coleshill have won the County Final of the Consumer Challenge Quiz, organised by Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards Service, and will now represent Warwickshire in the national final.

The Consumer Challenge Quiz gave students with moderate learning difficulties the opportunity to find out more about their consumer rights and learn some important life skills.

Eight teams from four Special Schools took part in the event which covered a wide range of consumer issues including consumer rights, food safety and under aged sales.

Mark Ryder, Head of Warwickshire Trading Standards said:

“I would like to congratulate the Woodlands Team for their achievement, and every participant of the competition for their hard work and effort.

This is the second year we have run this competition in Warwickshire and again it was a huge success. As a Trading Standards Service we remain committed to helping ensure that young people are educated to become empowered and confident consumers.”

The Woodlands School team will now represent the County at the national final of the competition, one of the centrepieces of the National Trading Standards conference to be held in Manchester from 26th to 28th June 2007.

The final results:

1st Place: Woodlands School Coleshill
2nd Place: Round Oak School Leamington Spa
3rd Place: Welcombe Hills School Stratford upon Avon
Semi finalists: Oakwood School Nuneaton
