Help on hand with Direct Payments
Warwickshire County Council have organised help for carers to understand Direct Payments.
A workshop will take place on Thursday 15 March at Hatters Space, Upper Abbey Street, Nuneaton between 10.30am and 1.30pm including lunch. Carers Support Services will be there supporting the workshop.
Direct Payments give people more control over how their care needs are met. The council can make payments directly into your bank account instead of providing a service such as home care, day care or small adaptations. With these payments people can make their own arrangements for help and give themselves more choice and control. Direct Payments can also be used in combination with existing services so that carers can mix and match to suit their needs and those of the person they care for.
Elaine Cook, Service Development Officer, said
“This workshop is open to anyone who provides substantial and regular care for someone else. We are aiming to make Direct payments easier for carers to use and make sure that more people are aware of the greater choice that Direct Payments can offer.”
