Chamber Music Festival hits the right note

Thousands of talented young musicians will be hitting the right note when they take part in Warwickshire’s annual Chamber Music Festival.

From 6 March, more than 2,000 pupils will perform in 12 separate area Chamber Music Festivals. The festivals will celebrate a wide range of musical styles ranging from rock bands to string quartets. The only rule is that each performer plays an individual part – as that is what makes it chamber music.

The festival is organised and adjudicated by the County Music Service, part of Warwickshire County Council. After each day-time festival, adjudicators will select a range of groups to display their skill at a public evening concert at a local venue, in front of parents, friends and paying guests. Admission to daytime performances is free and admission to evening concerts is £2 for adults and free for children.

Organiser Michael Williamson, Manager of County Performance Groups, at Warwickshire’s County Music Service, said: “We have a wealth of musical talent in the county and the Chamber Music Festival is a wonderful way to enjoy a wide range of musical styles in an informal setting. The standard and dedication of our young musicians is impressive and the festivals are always a resounding success with audiences.”
