Course celebration for local community stalwarts
A group of stalwarts in the local community are celebrating after becoming the first in a new partnership to receive Open College Network Certificates in Communication and Teamwork.
They put 30 hours of hard work into gaining the qualification, which has come about thanks to a new partnership formed between Nuneaton and Bedworth Council For Voluntary Service and the Open College Network (OCN) Central England.
This offers a new range of accredited courses to people in Nuneaton and Bedworth. The courses are suitable for people who work or volunteer in their local community and wish to improve their skills.
This partnership was made possible by funding from Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods, Warwickshire County Council and The Heart of England Community Foundation.
The funding allowed Nuneaton & Bedworth CVS to develop a series of community related courses to be written to fit the OCN framework.
This course developed skills in the following areas: building more effective working relationships; developing listening skills; the theory of teamwork; and the difference between groups and teams.
Some comments from the students were:
‘I found the course and training very valuable’.
‘This course has more than met my expectations’.
‘This course made me be aware that communication can be improved’.
‘Thanks for a really good and interesting course, it has helped me considerably’.
