‘Sweet’ charity from red-nosed council workers
Red-nosed council staff will ‘big it up’ for charity on Friday (16 March) with a number of fundraising events in aid of this year’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day – ‘The Big One’.
Warwick’s Shire Hall is set to be a sea of red, as kind-hearted staff from Warwickshire County Council don their red noses to support the charity.
Staff have been asked to contribute to Comic Relief by baking a cake, joining in a sponsored ‘comedy walk’, completing a sponsored non-smoking week, or wearing red for the day and donating money to the charity.
Friday 16 March is Comic Relief’s national Red Nose Day. Since its launch in 1985, Comic Relief has raised over £425 million and sold over 45 million red noses.
This year is the 11th Red Nose Day, and the cash raised will help to change lives for the better in the UK and in Africa.
Sarah Boyce, Workstep Support Worker for Warwickshire County Council, said: “Comic Relief brings relief to all different groups of people in the UK and internationally. Warwickshire County Council is committed to raising funds for several charities and this is just one. With our joined up efforts we hope to make a difference.”
