‘Sweet’ charity from red-nosed council workers
Red-nosed council staff did their bit to 'big it up' for charity today with a number of fundraising events in aid of this year’s Comic Relief Red Nose Day – ‘The Big One’.
Warwick’s Shire Hall was a sea of red, as kind-hearted staff from Warwickshire County Council donned their red noses to support the charity.
Staff were asked to contribute to Comic Relief by baking a cake, joining in a sponsored ‘comedy walk’, or wearing red for the day and donating money to the charity.
Senior Pensions Officer, Lisa Webb (pictured, centre) chose to do a sponsored twenty-four hour fast for the charity – and so had to resist the cakes that had made by her colleagues.
Sarah Boyce, Workstep Support Worker for Warwickshire County Council, said: “Comic Relief brings relief to all different groups of people in the UK and internationally. Warwickshire County Council is committed to raising funds for several charities and this is just one. With our joined up efforts we hope to make a difference.”
Since its launch in 1985, Comic Relief has raised over £425 million and sold over 45 million red noses. This year is the 11th Red Nose Day, and the cash raised will help to change lives for the better in the UK and in Africa.
