Wheels on fire…. FLAME bus to benefit south Warwickshire

Council services are to go ‘on tour’ around south Warwickshire, thanks to a brand new joint venture between Warwickshire County Council and Stratford District Council.

An information bus, described as a ‘mobile office’, will take to the road providing advice on council services to people living in south Warwickshire’s towns, villages and more rural areas.

It’s all part of a project called FLAME (Flexible Local Access through Mobile Enquiries), which has been funded by Advantage West Midlands.

Kushal Birla, Head of Customer Service and Access, Warwickshire County Council, said: “People will be able to get county and district council information, ask for a service and leave their queries with staff on the bus. Wherever possible, we will try to give people an ‘on the spot’ solution.

“This exciting initiative will help us further improve the service we provide to local people. We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with Stratford District Council on this project.”

Councillor Juliet Short, Customer Services Portfolio Holder for Stratford District Council said:  “We will be able to deliver services at any location across the district and in particular to places in greatest need.  Working closely with Warwickshire County Council means that the resident will benefit from truly joined up service delivery.”

It is hoped that the bus will also be used by voluntary groups and other organisations, in partnership with the county and district council, to promote information on subjects such as health, benefits and pensions.
