Can your company survive?
The headlines over the last few years say it all: from explosions at oil terminals to hurricanes, floods and terrorism, there is an ever-increasing list of events that can cause disruption to daily life and the running of businesses.
Despite this, many UK organisations admit they are still failing to prepare for disruption.
Warwickshire County Council Emergency Planning Unit, in partnership with other local authorities across the county, are pleased to again be supporting ‘Business Continuity Awareness Week’ from 26th to 30th March 2007, and are urging local businesses and the voluntary sector to ensure they are prepared for disaster.
Business continuity is similar to seatbelts in a car - before they existed we accepted the injuries and deaths as unavoidable consequences of owning a one, now we wouldn’t drive without one.
Comparatively, research shows that business continuity plans can make difference between closure and survival of your business following an incident, so why take the risk? Implement business continuity today to protect your future.
To assist local businesses and voluntary organisations in achieving this a series of web pages have been developed explaining what business continuity is all about, why it’s important and resources to get businesses started. People can access them by following the link below.
This complements the previously held breakfast seminars organised by the Emergency Planning Unit, where companies heard advice from experts on how they can prepare and respond to disasters and business interruptions.
Jeremy Lee, Manager of the Emergency Planning Unit, Community Protection Directorate says:
“Advising businesses and the voluntary sector about the importance of developing comprehensive business continuity plans and their recovery from major incidents, is not only critical to them individually, but is also critical to the entire community due to the jobs and services they provide.”
