Facelift for Galley Common shop fronts
A facelift costing £20,000 is getting underway this week to the frontage of the shops in Hickman Road, Galley Common.
Thanks to funding from Warwickshire County Council’s, Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods Project, the land to the front of the shops will be revamped.
Work is starting outside the Post Office and General Store and the Chemist in the coming weeks and should be completed in early June.
In November of last year local people were given the opportunity to ‘have their say’ on proposed designs for the area.
Thanks to this feedback the project will include a new pavement surface, new railings and rebuilding the existing wall, removal of a problem conifer tree and planting to the foot of the wall.
Local County Councillor Mick Jones said: “I am happy that we are trying to tidy up this part of the village and I’m looking forward to the completion of the job.
"This is a good example of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council working in tandem at local level.”
This is one of many environmental improvement schemes taking place outside the shop fronts throughout Nuneaton and Bedworth, which has been made possible by funding secured from Advantage West Midlands, through Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods, a regeneration initiative from Warwickshire County Council.
