Learn more about Warwickshire’s first people
Warwickshire boasts some of the oldest evidence of humans in Britain with hand axes dating back about 500,000 years found in quarries in the Bubbenhall area near Ryton.
It is also likely that at least three different species of human have lived in the area, with Modern Humans being relatively recent newcomers.
To celebrate this, Warwickshire Museum is offering two lunch time talks.
On Wednesday 4th April, Steven Falk (Keeper of Natural History) will explain how humans evolved from apes, and the sort of evidence scientists use to study this.
On Thursday 5th, Dr Jon Radley (Keeper of Geology) will look more closely at the environment of those first Warwickshire people, including some of the extinct large animals that they co-existed with and hunted for food.
Both talks will take place at Market Hall Museum, Warwick and start at 12.30pm. Booking is not required and both events are free.
