Raw Tuition showcases young talent
Everything from punk music to dhol drumming will be featured at a special youth arts showcase at Bedworth Civic Hall next week.
Organised by Warwickshire County Council’s Division for Young People, ‘Raw Tuition’ is a celebration event of youth creativity featuring music and dance acts from Nuneaton and Bedworth.
The event is the culmination of music and dance workshops held at Camphill Youth Centre and Croxall Street Youth Centre over the last nine months.
The ‘Raw Tuition’ concert will take place from 7.30-10.30pm on Wednesday 28 March at Bedworth Civic Hall. Tickets to the event are free but must be booked in advance by calling 07881 850 317.
The acts include dhol drummers from the Asian Regeneration Programme, solo artists Alisha and Faye, dance group Just Bring It, punk band Perfect Mistakes, acoustic rock band Roadside Romance and Stix Kidz who will be performing ‘grime’ - a new style of British hip hop.
Event organiser Bob Mardle, who is a youth worker for Warwickshire County Council’s Division for Young People, said: “Raw Tuition is all about celebrating the talent and creativity of young people from Nuneaton and Bedworth.
"The hard work that the young people have put into their performances has been a testament to their commitment and their will to achieve. Raw Tuition is the perfect antidote to the negative stereotype of young people that we sadly see too often.”
