Walk to Quit: Extra Support for Quitters
Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire NHS Stop Smoking Service have joined forces to put on a programme of short walks at Ryton Pools Country Park to provide extra support for people who are stopping smoking.
The 6 week walking programme runs weekly on Thursdays at 10 am starting 19 April at Ryton Pools Country Park. The walks will last for 45 minutes on a fairly flat route.
Rosie Smith, Health & Environment Project Officer for Warwickshire County Council, said: "Being active while you stop smoking can help to reduce any weight gain and help with withdrawal symptoms, particularly cravings for cigarettes."
Jane Wright of Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service, added: "Joining a friendly walking group with others who are stopping smoking will provide extra support through the process of quitting and hopefully help participants to quit for good."
To join the group participants must be registered with Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service and have set a quit date.
