County Music Service tops the bill with a quacking good show
Some of Rugby’s most talented young performers will top the bill when they take part in the County Music Service’s production of Honk – a comic musical based on Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Ugly Duckling’.
The young people taking part are aged between 8 and 16 and attend Saturday morning music theatre sessions run by Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service.
More than fifty performers and musicians from primary and secondary schools across East Warwickshire will perform in the production on Friday 27th April, 7.30pm and Saturday 28th April, 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Harris School, Overslade Lane, Rugby. Tickets are £7.00 and £3.00 concessions and can be ordered through the box office on 01788 576506.
Written by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles, the Olivier award winning musical comedy, Honk, is a contemporary retelling of ‘The Ugly Duckling’ - the
message being, "It doesn’t matter how different you are, someone out
there will love you warts and all!”
Dancing ducklings, a chorus of frogs and a cunning cat will perform a host of hilarious numbers including a ‘A Poultry Sale’, ‘You Can Play With Your Food’ ‘The Wild Goose Chase’ and ‘Now I’ve Seen You, Warts And All’.
Eddie Jones Deputy Manager for the County Music Service (East) said: “This promises to be a dazzling show. Our annual performances are always full of great energy, enthusiasm and fun!”
