Facelift complete at Chapel End shops

A facelift for the shopping area in Chapel End has been completed offering local residents the chance to enjoy improved facilities.

Over the past few weeks pavements and roads have been resurfaced, new railings have been installed, lighting has been improved and the area has generally had a spring clean.

Partners Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have carried all of the improvements out with funding from Advantage West Midlands, the regional development agency.

These works have not been carried out in isolation, but form part of a wider regeneration programme to provide business support for local neighbourhood retailers, including similar schemes across Nuneaton and Bedworth such as Pinetree Road in Bedworth.

And the works have not just been physical changes with retailers offered business advice and support from partners Coventry and Warwickshire (Business Link) and some have taken up grants for shop improvements offered under the programme.

Cllr Richard Grant, the county councillor for the area, said: ā€œI’m delighted to see the result of these works, which improves the environment for local shoppers and residents, and should improve the business prospects for the local enterprises. The works have really enhanced the area and given it a lift.ā€
