Warwickshire celebrates International Dawn Chorus Day
Early birds are being invited to enjoy one of two countryside walks to help celebrate International Dawn Chorus Day this Sunday.
Both Kingsbury Water Park and Hartshill Hayes Country Park have organised walks, with a two-mile walk around the countryside at Kingsbury’s park, or a two hour woodland walk at Hartshill.
Those taking part in either of the walks will be able to hear the wonderful birdsong at this very early and very special time of day.
The “Birds before breakfast” walk will take place at Kingsbury Water Park on Sunday, and the walk will set off at 4am. This is followed by an optional extra of breakfast at the Old Barn Coffee Shop. Booking is essential, but only if breakfast is required; telephone 01827 872660.
Meanwhile the two hour walk at Hartshill alos departs at 4am from the Visitor Centre.
The cost is adults £1.50; concessions £1.00; family (max. 2 adults + 2 children) £3.50.
For further information on this event or for a free booklet giving the programme of walks and activities for all of Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks, call Kingsbury Water Park on 01827 872660 or e-mail parks@warwickshire.gov.uk.
