New walking group gets into step at Ryton
A chance to improve health, get social and enjoy the great outdoors is being offered by Warwickshire County Council with the launch of a new walking group.
This will take place at Ryton Pools Country Park weekly on Wednesdays from May 16.
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “Walking can be an enjoyable and easy way to improve your health and walking as part of a regular group may help you to get started and stay active.
“Health experts recommend we take at least 10,000 steps a day, and try and do moderate exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, such as brisk walking, so hopefully our new walking group will set people on the right track.
“This is an ideal group if you would like to walk more but would prefer to do so in the company of others.”
Walks start at 10am, and walkers should meet outside the Visitor Centre entrance. Each walk will last about an hour and will be led by Warwickshire County Council staff and volunteers. Routes are fairly flat and stile free.
You will be welcome at one or two or all of the eight walks. There is no need to book but for more information contact Rosie Smith on 01926 418638 or email rosiesmith@warwickshire.gov.uk
