Improvement Scheme now ready for inspection!

County and Borough councillors will be inspecting the work, which has been completed on a series of environmental improvements to the shopping area at Pinetree Road in Bedworth on Wednesday 9 May.

The enhancements, which have been developed with the local retailers, include new car parking, repaving, upgraded street lighting, cycle facilities and new planting.

The improvements form part of a wider programme of business support to retailers, which has been delivered by partners Warwickshire County Council and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council using funding from AWM, the Regional Development Agency. The overall purpose of the programme is to promote regeneration and provide improved facilities for local people.

Other elements of the programme have included free business advice from Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber (Business Link) and grant funding for shop front improvements. Under the shop front scheme new security shutters have been fitted to a number of premises.

Councillor Richard Chattaway said:
"This is a great example of the County Council and Borough Council working in partnership to help to improve the facilities for residents in the local area. It also shows how we have listened to the needs of our residents and acted upon those needs. We are very happy with the improvements, and we hope that they will bring a real boost to the local area. “

This is just one of five environmental improvement schemes that have been delivered to retail areas across the Regeneration Zone under this programme over the last two years. Other retail areas to have benefited in this way include Rathbone Close in Keresley and School Lane in Bedworth.
