Pupils get SATisfaction from musical chill out

Schoolchildren from Nuneaton and North Warwickshire who took their SATs last week were invited to ‘chill out’ at series of musical post-exam picnics, thanks to the County Music Service (CMS).

The SATs picnics were organised so that pupils taking their KS2 QCA tests and SATs could join together with food and music after the pressure of examination time.

Schools including Racemeadow Primary in Atherstone, Michael Drayton in Nuneaton and Water Orton Primary all take part in weekly CMS activities and were delighted to offer the musical ‘chill out’ sessions on Monday 14, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 May.

Caroline Powell-Brett, Area Manager for Warwickshire County Council’s Music Service (North), said: “Music has the power to join people together and help them relax. The weather may not have been excellent but the pupils have been enjoying themselves and making the most of the ‘chill out’ sessions.”

Warwickshire County Music Service provides music making opportunities for 11,500 Warwickshire pupils including instrumental, vocal and class music tuition.
