Forget Paris and Milan, a Rugby school have shown that they have a talent for fashion!

More than 200 Year 9 students from Bilton School in Rugby have taken part in an Enterprise Business Day organised by Warwickshire Education Business Partnership.

The students were set a challenge to design, cost, make and model an item of clothing. They have to use their initiative and ingenuity by using the very limited resources availably, bin liners, string and crepe paper.

The students have to produce a business plan and look carefully at cost and price or their product.

The event with a spectacular fashion show with all teams modelling their item of clothing.

Helping the students keep on track and giving them support and advice, are representatives from the business community which include Rolls Royce, Coventry Building Society, Rugby Borough Council. Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire County Council and Accelerate Finance.

Cllr Chris Saint, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “It was interesting to see what creations the young people designed – and of course, the business plans they created.

“Events like this give our future entrepreneurial generation a great insight into what lies ahead, and I’d like to thank those attending from both the public and private sector for their help.”
