Taxi service to help Wolverton villagers

A free taxi service is being offered to villagers in Wolverton to try and help them through the temporary loss of a bus route as a result of a road closure.

Warwickshire County Council has announced that a road closure in Snitterfield during June will unfortunately cause problems for Wolverton villagers wishing to travel to Stratford by bus.
School Road in Snitterfield is to be closed for drainage work from Monday 4th to Saturday 30th June. The existing 24 bus service will serve Snitterfield as part of a one way loop and will have a temporary revised timetable. This means that buses will not serve Wolverton during the period of closure.

Special arrangements will be made for Wolverton village. Eligible school students will be taxied from the village to their schools. An arrangement will also be in place for members of the public to request taxi transport free of charge between the village and Stratford. Villagers intending to use this facility should telephone the County Council for details on 01926 412760.

Cllr Martin Heatley, the county council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment said: “Its important despite the road closure that we continue to provide people living in small communities with access to vital services. This free taxi service will do precisely that.”

Details about the road closure and the temporary revised 24 bus service are available on the county council web site at http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/publictransport
