Firefighters highlight hidden dangers outside of the home
With summer almost here, Firefighters in North Warwickshire have teamed up with Dobbies Garden Centre to launch the beginning of their summer fire safety campaign.
As part of the campaign, firefighters will be on hand to talk to local residents about how to use your barbecue safely and the dangers of using accelerants to get your barbecue started. Visitors to the centre will also have the opportunity to discuss any fire safety concerns they may have and to find out more about Warwickshire County Councils Fire and Rescue Services, free home fire safety check service.
The crews will be outside Dobbies Garden World, Nuneaton Road, Mancetter, on Thursday 31 May and Friday 1st June between 10.45am – 1pm and 2.15pm to 3.30pm.
Sub Officer, Leo Fielding said:
“The main aim of the event is to catch people just before the summer arrives. Statistics show that more people buy barbecues at this time of year and so we want to catch as many of those people as possible to ensure that they know how to use their barbecue safely. The event is open to everyone, so even if you already have a barbecue, please feel free to come and ask for some advice.”
