Oakfield Junior School calls for governors to come on board
Members of the local community are being urged to come on board at Oakfield Junior School in Atherstone as community governors.
The school is looking for two enthusiastic and committed individuals who would like to give their time by playing a part in the school’s development.
The school is particularly interested in hearing from people who live or work in the local area and have a good understanding of the community served by the school. The school would also welcome those who may bring specific skills to the role, for instance experience which may have been developed through business or community work. No special qualifications are required but applicants must be over 18.
Headteacher Debra Taylor said: “This is a very worthwhile opportunity for anyone who would like to contribute to the future of the school.”
Mary Aitken, Governor Support Officer for Warwickshire County Council, added: “By getting involved as a governor of your local school, you can help to make sure the children in your community receive the highest standard of education possible and achieve their full potential.”
Further information and an application form can be obtained by contacting the school on 01827 712372. Community governors will be asked to attend two meetings each term and full training on the responsibilities of the role will be provided by the local authority.
