Cash funding for Nuneaton and Bedworth communities
A new pot of funding is available to community groups across Nuneaton and Bedworth.
The Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods team at Warwickshire County Council has this week announced the new funding available to community groups in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area, thanks to Advantage West Midlands.
The Environment Action Fund is available for groups who wish to improve and enhance the environmental sustainability of the Nuneaton and Bedworth area.
The team is able to offer support to groups and projects, through officer time and funding, delivering initiatives to:
make community buildings more environmentally sustainable through refurbishment or better management of resources
encourage people to make the environmental choice when it comes to how they live improve the physical appearance of local green spaces or public realm
encourage the local environmental economy
Groups can apply for up to £10,000 (although most awards will be around the £5,000 unless they are exceptional circumstances) to help deliver the projects.
The funding can pay for things like new footpaths in an open space, marketing a new environmental community enterprise, supporting an allotment project or encouraging wildlife back to a site. There is also a specific pot of money to help groups who run community buildings to become more energy efficient.
Catherine Marks, Environmental Action Co-ordinator for BSN, said: “This is a great opportunity for groups to go green. The money is waiting to be spent and we are looking forward to seeing what projects come forward. All groups must fill in an application form which will be assessed by our Management Board and money must be spent by 31st March 2008.”
