Stratford young firefighters – enjoy clowning around
Young firefighters from the Stratford district spent their Saturday with Tag the clown, learning a range of exciting skills including plate spinning, juggling, stilt walking and unicycling.
The clowning around activities were part of the young firefighters annual general meeting. Around 50 young firefighters from across Warwickshire attended the event to have their say on what the future of the Young Firefighters Association should look like. They also discussed what they thought had gone well or not so well over the last year.
The event, which was run by Warwickshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service, ran from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The clowning around activities were run by Circus Palava.
Tag the clown said:
“We work with a lot of young people within the local community and it’s great to see them getting enthusiastic and working as a team. The day was great fun and some of the young firefighters had real talent.”
Youth Development Manager Cheryl Jones said:
“The day went really well and we had a lot of great suggestions from the young people who attended. Although there is a serious element to this event, we always like to make sure that those involved, get to try their hand at learning new skills. The circus skills and arts and crafts workshops were great fun and were a real hit with both the young firefighters and instructors.”
