Local artist featured in the museum

Some of the work of Leamington artist, Margaret Godwin, is featured in a new exhibition at Warwickshire Museum in Warwick.

Amongst the collection on display are paintings of fields and lakes at Chesterton, and the effects of the change of seasons.

There are also some abstract paintings of water, which lead into winter lakes in Connemara, with its haunting and unique colours. The third main section of the exhibition is the much painted South Downs, between Eastbourne and Brighton, and finally paintings of Spain with winter sunshine on the sea.

Through her work Margaret endeavours to capture something momentary and fleeting as well as the more permanent aspects of a place, following the moods of nature through the seasons. Her painting is about the relationship between earth, sky and water; colour is the vehicle for moods and atmosphere.

Museum designer, Emma House, said:  “All of Margaret’s paintings attempt to capture a dreaming quality of place and time, and the sense of constant change. ”

The majority of the work is for sale with prices starting at £30.
