Recycled technology benefits Nuneaton residents

People young and old who live in a Nuneaton village are benefiting from a recycled computer that's been donated to an organisation making great efforts to improve their local area.

Bermuda Village Residents Association is one of twenty community and voluntary organisations to benefit from Warwickshire County Council’s ‘great computer giveaway’.

On Wednesday 27th June, Councillor Pat Henry will formally present the free computer to members of the Residents Association at the home of Steve Yates, the Association’s Committee Chairman.

The Residents Association was set up to improve the local area and preserve the village’s identity, by maintaining good relations with the borough and county council and local landowners.

Warwickshire County Council’s Nuneaton and Bedworth Area Committee had the tough task of deciding which community and voluntary organisations in the borough should benefit from the free computers.

Steve Yates, Chairman of the Residents Association Committee, said: “The computer is a great resource for the whole community and the Residents Association couldn’t operate without one.

“We’re using it to communicate with local Councillors by email and to produce good quality communications for the local residents, so they are kept informed of local issues. I also let the kids from the village use it to do their school work, so everyone is benefiting.”

Councillor Pat Henry said: “It’s great to be able to give one of the county council’s recycled computers to a small group like the Bermuda Village Residents Association.

"We’re helping to put something back into the community via groups like this, and that’s just the sort of thing we want to do more of.”
