Revamp for Bedworth station unveiled
Customers travelling to and from Bedworth Station will now benefit from new CCTV security cameras, waiting shelters and customer information screens, thanks to a £165,000 improvement programme by Warwickshire County Council in partnership with Central Trains.
The new customer information screens are located on the two platforms and allow passengers to access ‘real time’ information about the next two trains to arrive and depart from the station. They also incorporate automated public address systems to announce the arrival of each train.
Central Trains, part of the National Express Group, has also installed seven new CCTV cameras which overlook the car park, platforms and approach ramps.
In addition, two new anti-vandal shelters have replaced the previous ones on both platforms.
Mike Haigh, Central Trains’ Director of Business Development, said: “We are delighted with the improvements we have made at Bedworth Station. By providing increased security and comfort and improving the flow and quality of information, we are confident this will improve our customers’ experience.
“We are grateful to Warwickshire County Council for providing the funding for these improvements.”
Cllr Martin Heatley, Warwickshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Environmental Services, said: “The improvements at Bedworth have been delivered through the Warwickshire Quality Rail Partnership between the county council and the rail industry.
“The county council is committed to provide rail users with a better waiting environment, better facilities, better information and increased security. I have no doubt that the improvements will make a real difference for the people who use the station regularly.
“The involvement and support of Central Trains has been crucial in delivering the improvements and they would not be possible without their willingness to take on the management and long term maintenance of the new facilities.”
