Obscured signs is a growing problem
Warm and wet weather has meant that vegetation has enjoyed a spurt of life in Warwickshire obscuring many of the county’s road signs and lights.
A call is going out to landowners to check hedges and trees, which may have become overgrown and spilled onto public highways.
Warwickshire County Council is reminding everyone whose land adjoins public highways to carry out an inspection and the necessary action.
Ken Simons, County Forester, said: “It is the responsibility of landowners to have their trees inspected regularly and to take action if necessary.
“Where growth is impeding access to the footpath, highway or ‘street furniture’ we would ask the adjoining landowner to remove this growth.”
Ken went on to remind householders to check the stability and safety of any trees, which may have suffered in the recent flood waters.
