Safety messages spread at storytime
Stories, games, puzzles and quizzes from a special Activity Pack are being used by Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety team to spread important safety messages to children who attend Out of School Clubs across Warwickshire.
The Activity packs have been designed to give Out of School Club leaders all the resources they need to pass on road safety advice to children aged between 4 and 11.
Stan Milewski, Senior Road Safety Officer at Warwickshire County Council said: “We only have two full-time Road Safety Officers to cover the whole of the county and although they visit around 200 schools a year, we do not have the resources to see every child.
“By providing Out of School Clubs with the Activity Packs, we will be promoting road safety to an even wider audience of children. We know leaders are always on the look out for new ideas and resources to entertain children at the club. Not only are the ideas fun, but they will encourage children of all aged to think about road safety issues in an informal but memorable way.”
