Charlotte and Chris first to marry at ‘One Stop Shop’
How many people do you know that have got married at their workplace?
That’s exactly what Charlotte Phillips and her partner Chris Phillips will be doing on Saturday at a potentially lucky time and date for the couple – at 17.07 on the 7th day of the 7th month 2007!
The couple will be the very first to get married in the brand new ceremony room at Warwickshire Registration Service’s new premises in Atherstone, part of the ‘Warwickshire Direct – North Warwickshire’ one stop shop that opened earlier this year.
The venue has particular significance for Charlotte and Chris, as the one stop shop is based at North Warwickshire Borough Council’s headquarters on South Street – where the couple first met.
Charlotte and Chris deliberately chose 17:07 on 07.07.07 as the time and date for their wedding so it would be easy for their guests to remember. Mayor of North Warwickshire, Councillor Wendy Smitten, will greet and congratulate the couple after the ceremony.
Charlotte said: “We picked the Council offices when I found out that weddings were going to be held there as that’s where we met – how romantic!”
“We’ve even planned the reception for 7.00pm and will be celebrating with sausage, chips, beer and skittles at the Rose Inn in Baxterley – and yes, I’ll be playing skittles and eating greasy chips in my wedding frock! “
Polly Dickinson, Warwickshire County Council’s Registration Services Manager, said: ”Charlotte does the bookings for the ceremony room, so it is particularly fitting that she will be the first bride to get married there.
“This will be an exciting event for the registrars in Atherstone too, as it will be the first wedding at our new premises. We wish Charlotte and Chris all the very best for the future and look forward to marrying many more couples in the new ceremony room.”
Warwickshire County Council’s Registration Services relocated their Atherstone office into the one stop shop last month. Their old offices were at Warwick House on Ratcliffe Street.
The new premises are already proving popular, with another 16 weddings so far booked in for July, August and September.
On Friday 20th July, between 12 noon and 4pm, the Atherstone registrars will be holding an open day for couples thinking of getting married in the new ceremony room, so they can come and take a look around and have an informal chat. Couples who have already booked their wedding at the new ceremony room will also be invited.
To find out more about the open day or to book an appointment with a registrar, call 02476 348944 or 02476 348948.
